Huay Kaew Waterfall is a beautiful
place hiding in the midst of the mountain jungle. This little known waterfall is situated just 6.5 km away from the Huai Mak Liumhot springs and the Mae Kok River, concealed amidst bamboo forest, the Huai Kaew waterfall is a peaceful place to relax,
swim and take in the natural surroundings. There are two tiers to the waterfall with
the lower level being a great place to
take a refreshing swim. Water flows here all year round so swimming in this pool
is always possible.

Walking to and from the waterfall offers picturesque views down the valley of the tea plantation and jungle scenery. Alternatively it takes only 10 minutes to get to the waterfall from a nearby
Akha Village where you can sample the local handicrafts, eat at their restaurant or stay overnight
at Akha Hill House. There are various types of room such as; bamboo bungalows, mud bungalows or dormitory rooms. The view of the valley from this village is even more spectacular and from this village it is possible to organise treks to neighbouring hilltribe villages.

On the way to or from the waterfall you can also visit the Huai Mak LiumHot Spring in Baan Phaseort where you can swim in the pool, indulge in a private bathroom, stop for a picnic or eat at one of the local restaurants.

Huay Kaew Waterfall is located 25km from Chiang Rai city at Doi Hang mountain. From the city you can take the road that goes via the Huai Mak Lium Hot Springs and turn left at Wat Phasoet Wanaram. Huay Kaew Waterfall is signposted as you leave the city.
